Terms and Conditions for
The “Caring for the Environment” Competition

Who Can Take Part?
This competition is open to young persons living within 14 miles (22Km) of Launceston town centre.

Prizes
The winner in each age group under each category will be presented with a £20 Amazon voucher.
The Organisers reserve the right to decide if entrants reside within the qualifying area.
If you enter our competition, we will collect and process your personal data which includes
* your name,
* email address,
* age,
* name of any youth group to which you belong (if relevant) and
* Name of town or parish in which you live and
* Name of your parent or guardian.
Under the General Data Protection Regulations, we are ‘data controllers’ of your information.
We take our obligation to protect the information you give us very seriously, and will take care when using and
processing it.
Rotary retain the right to reproduce artwork entered in this competition. Such material will be used for promotional
purposes only.
There are four age categories for taking part. Age as on April 1
st 2023.
Junior: 7 to 10 yrs.
Inter: 11 to 13 yrs.
Senior: 14 to 17 yrs.

How to Enter and Prize Awarding

Entry forms may be downloaded from www.launcestonrotaryuk.org or
alternatively picked up in person from the Rotary Community Shop in Southgate Street from Thursday 4th April.
Entries should be submitted to the e-mail address shown on the entry form or personally brought to the shop.
All entries must be accompanied by an entry form.
Entries close April 23rd 2024.
The winners will be announced by June 1
st 2024 and after that date be asked to bring their pieces to the shop (if
they have not already done so) in Southgate Street for display in the shop window. These should be retrieved one
week later. Any unretrieved items will be assumed as donated to the Rotary shop for continued display and may
be disposed of at a later date.
Every competitor will be advised of special arrangements for Prizegiving.

Competition Guidelines

Competitors are invited to send either one of the following creations.
• An Artwork with the theme “Caring for the Environment” which may be either, completely hand
fashioned or computer/merged camera generated and should be no greater than A4 (210 x 297 mm) in
area.
• An item made from recycled materials, either useful in daily life or purely decorative and should be
under 200mm Width x 1000mm depth x 3000mm height. It should be suitable for display in the home or
in a public space. A photo of the piece may be sent in with the application form if required.

Judging

The competition will be judged by adjudicators with local and specialist knowledge who have no close
connection with Launceston Rotary Club. The judges will take due note of the relevance to the theme.
Only in exceptional circumstances will the Rotary Club enter into correspondence with entrants following the
competition.
